 Let your cooking skills shine!
You enjoy cooking, entertaining, and hosting dinner parties? Why not take it to the next level and invite some fun & interesting people to your home for brunch or dinner as part of a fun cooking event? That's what our hobby chefs do.
What is a hobby chef? Hobby chefs are people like you and I who simply love to cook. An event features four hobby chefs who each cook one dish in their own home. They then welcome two sets of four food lovers into their house, serve their food, chat, laugh and have a good time. Each seating takes 1hr. Hobby chefs generally have sous-chefs as cooking together is way more fun.
What do hobby chefs have to do? You pick one dish or several small tapas style dishes which you serve to your dinner guests in your own home on event night. After dinner everyone (all dinner guests, hobby chefs, sous-chefs) meets at one location where we'll have dessert.
What's in it for you?
- To help hobby chefs with their food prep, Social Bites will provide a gift card to your local grocery store to get you started.
- You receive priority access to a future event (pays off as they sell out within hours) and a 50% discount on your dinner passes.
- GIFTS! Our event partners like to shower hobby chefs in gifts ranging from the best chocolate to the hottest hot sauce.
- This is also a competition. Dinner guests will rate your food and the hobby chef with the highest score also receives a restaurant gift certificates valued at up to $150.
- And don't forget you meet some great like-minded people and get feedback on your cooking skills.
What's the best part about hobby chef-ing? Here is what former hobby chefs are saying:
"Getting feedback on my recipes from strangers, meeting new people, and forcing me to get cookin' more often :) " Kai (@dashoffood)
"Hobby Chef-ing? Perfecting a dish, meeting new pals, oh, and coming in 2nd ;p" Crystal (@yelpcanada)
"I just love the entire experience and putting forth my ideals of being a good host/chef" Marc (@amuse_events)
"The best part about being a hobby chef was the chance to meet other like-minded Vancouverites in a super-fun quasi-competitive environment. It was like being in a cooking show, and winning made the experience even better!" Karen (@karenpinchin)
